Most tarot readers describe the cards to you. I can't see them.

I'm William. I've been doing this for nine years, and I was born blind. When I do a tarot reading, I don't lay the cards out and interpret the imagery — I literally can't. What I do is read the energy of what's moving in your life, and the cards become a frame for that energy, not a picture to decode. That's a different thing. If you've gotten readings before where someone just described the art on the card and called it a reading, you'll notice the difference immediately.

What online tarot actually is (and what it isn't)

Four things worth knowing before you book — from someone who's been doing this blind for nine years.

1

Tarot is not fortune telling.

The cards don't predict specific events. They never did. The original purpose of tarot was pattern recognition — a structure for surfacing what's already present in a situation. What direction is this moving? What's underneath the question? What's the energy behind the decision you're circling? That's the work. "Will I get the job?" isn't a tarot question. "What's happening in me around this job situation?" is.

2

A tarot reading is not card imagery interpretation.

Most online tarot readers show you the card, describe the medieval artwork, and give you a list of traditional meanings. That's symbolism study, not a reading. A real reading works with the energy behind the card, not the picture on it. The card is the frame — what matters is what it's framing in your specific situation, right now.

3

Online tarot is not less real than in-person tarot.

Energy doesn't require the same room. I've been doing readings by text chat and phone for nine years. The medium doesn't degrade the connection — what degrades a reading is a reader who's not actually paying attention to you. Distance has nothing to do with it.

4

Tarot is a language for what you already sense.

Most people who come to me with a question already have a feeling about the answer. They just can't articulate it clearly, or they're not sure they trust it. Tarot gives that a frame — a structure you can look at and react to. The reaction is often more honest than the words you came in with.

Why blind changes how tarot works

Every other tarot reader online starts with the visual. They fan the cards out, look at the imagery, and build an interpretation from the symbolism — the cups mean emotion, the sword means conflict, the tower means disruption. That's the standard method. It's also something I've never been able to do. I was born without sight. I've never seen a tarot card. When I work with the cards, I'm not looking at a picture and telling you what it symbolically represents. I'm reading the energy of what's actually happening in your situation and using the card as a reference point for that energy. The direction of interpretation is reversed.

What that means in practice: the reading is about you, not about the card. I'm not describing what the Five of Cups traditionally represents and then asking you to apply it to your life. I'm working with where your energy actually is — what's stuck, what's moving, what you're carrying into the situation — and the card gives me a structured frame for talking about it. If the energy I'm reading doesn't match the card's traditional meaning, I go with the energy. The cards are a tool. They're not the source.

This is why I think the blindness matters more for tarot than for almost any other reading I do. Tarot has hundreds of years of accumulated visual symbolism, and most readers lean on that heavily — sometimes entirely. Being blind strips that out. What's left is the actual work of a reading: paying attention to the energy of one person and one question, and finding language for what's there. That's it. The medieval woodcuts are just scaffolding.

Questions about tarot reading online

Tarot is a language for what you can already feel but haven't said yet.

Most people who come to me for a tarot reading already have a sense of what's going on. They just can't quite get hold of it — can't find the words for it, or they don't trust the words they have. The cards give that a shape. The reading gives it a frame. What comes out of a good session isn't usually new information — it's clarity on something that was already there.

I've been doing this for nine years, blind since birth. I don't describe card imagery. I don't give you a list of meanings and ask you to apply them. I read what's actually there, in your situation, right now. If that's what you're looking for, let's do it.
